I can no longer wait to share my Exciting Announcement!!!
This month I will be traveling to Washington, D.C. where I will study under Dr. Neal Barnard to become a Certified Food for Life Instructor with the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine.
What an incredible honor to be 1 of 20 chosen from the thousands of capable applicants across North America!
Food for Life is an award-winning Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM) program designed by physicians, nurses, and registered dietitians that offers cancer, diabetes, weight management, and kids classes focusing on the lifesaving effects of healthful eating.
Dr. Barnard is nutrition researcher, author, and health advocate. As an adjunct associate professor of medicine at the George Washington University School of Medicine, Dr. Barnard conducts studies on the role of nutrition in diabetes, obesity, and lipid management, among other health issues.
In 1985, Dr. Barnard established the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, a nonprofit organization advocating for preventive medicine and higher ethical standards in research.
He later established The Cancer Project, a nonprofit organization providing nutritional services for cancer patients and survivors and public education geared toward prevention, and the Washington Center for Clinical Research, an organization dedicated to studies of diet and health.
Once Certified, I will be ready to teach easy, practical ways to put the power of nutrition to work by:
- Conducting classes teaching which foods and nutrients promote ideal health
- Giving cooking demonstrations of simple and nutritious recipes that can be easily recreated at home
- Sharing critical information focused on healthful eating for:
1.) Cancer prevention and survival
2.) Diabetes prevention and survival
3.) Weight loss and management
4.) Corporate health and wellness
5.) Children’s health and wellness
